Redesign of HGTV Canada website. I was responsible for product design, working with a UX researcher.
mobile-first and AA accesible architecture
We found that 80% of our users use mobile to visit HGTV. We chose to focus on building out a mobile-first experience. I focused on loads of negative space, big large imagery, and plenty of padding and spacing on the article pages.
It was imperative this site be AA accessibility compliant. Clear visual links, alt image text, colour contrast, legible typefaces and easy tab navigation were just some of the focus areas in my design process. I was able to lift elements from the the existing on-air brand guide, to create a cohesive experience from TV to web.
